It is indeed an honour to be on the Board of Directors for the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan. I have many years of experience in several roles: working with youth in custody, apprehended and in need of protection and having addiction and mental Health challenges. These experiences range from Paul Dojack Youth Centre, Dales House, resource recruitment and addiction treatment and strategy.
Indigenous people experienced intergenerational trauma through residential schools, 60’s scoop and reserves. As an organization we can assist with the transition from custody to community. We also believe in reconciliation, the calls to action and how we can position ourselves and incarcerated individuals to assist with this path. I have a number of degrees, have taught at University of Regina and SaskPolytechnic and am a former politician. Again, this is my honour to be on the John Howard Society board.
