The Youth Advisory Team gives young people a voice in shaping the services provided to them by the Ministry of Social Services (MSS). The Youth Advisory Team members are either current or former youth who have lived under the care of MSS. The team offers feedback on program development and best practices to MSS and advocates for positive change.

The concept centres on giving youth a voice in the services provided to them; not only by listening, but also by genuinely understanding and considering their experiences, knowledge and feedback on how to create and deliver better services to youth in care.
