Basswood Place provides youth aged 12-16 years a long-term home. It is a 24/7 staffed peer home with referrals from the Ministry of Social Services (MSS). The goal is to support these youth where they are at while supporting long-term development. The youth require ongoing support in the decision-making process regarding their current circumstances and plans for the future.

Bert’s provides youth a temporary placement for male youth aged 12-17 years for approximately 30 days. Referrals come from the Ministry of Social Services (MSS). Bert’s provides 24/7 staffing support. The goal is to support these youth where they are at by providing emergency needs such as housing, addiction, family breakdown, education, and safety. Bert’s focuses on short-term concentrated case planning to prepare them for their next residence; which can include a JHSS long-term home.  With the help of the Ministry of Social Services, JHSS was able to expand the services at Bert’s from 5 to 7 beds in 2019.

Cedar House provides youth aged 16-21 years a long-term home. Cedar House is a Mentor model peer home and referrals come from the Ministry of Social Services (MSS). Youth come to the home with a higher level of commitment to case planning, goal-setting, life skills development and long-term planning. Youth are supported in their decision-making process, navigating the education system, developing employment skills, and securing meaningful employment.

Community Outreach provides on-going support to youth aged 12-21 in care of the Ministry of Social Services (MSS) within the Saskatoon Community. Outreach support is able to stay attached to the youth regardless of MSS housing placement. Community Outreach focuses on connecting with youth and building trusting relationships, assisting in the development of life skills, support in social and cultural needs, and supporting them within the education, legal and social services systems while guiding youth through day-to-day adolescent and young adult issues. The youth are supported by a team of staff members covering 7 days a week on a rotational basis.

Cornerstone Drop-In provides a safe, inclusive space for a number of vulnerable and at-risk people in Regina. The drop-in space creates a sense of community for many who have very few supports. Cornerstone operates as a place where people are welcome to stop in for a meal, coffee to use the computer/phone, obtain clothing, chat with staff or just relax on the couch.

JHSS is the backbone agency for the Integrated Youth Services (IYS) model in Saskatchewan. IYS is a global movement that focuses on transforming how youth, young people and their families find and access the resources, services and supports they need.

The IYS hubs will be physical spaces to support youth aged 12-25 across Saskatchewan reach their full potential by including a range of youth-targeted services and reducing existing barriers to accessing needed services. IYS is a service model made for youth, by youth.

The goal of Saskatchewan’s model is having communities quickly connecting youth with the right services, in the right place and at the right time.

Lulu’s Lodge is a 5-bedroom supportive transitional home for LGBTQ2S+ youth ages 16-21 facing houselessness in Regina. We provide guidance and support around education, physical health, mental wellness, family reunification, legal matters, and advocacy. We make referrals to community agencies to ensure a continuum of care. Recently, JHSS purchased a new home that will allow us to expand services and supports to youth in this area.

Robert’s Place is a voluntary peer home for male youth ages 12-15 in care of the Ministry of Social Services. It is designed to offer youth a safe and stable living environment in addition to a positive support system. Youth living at Robert’s Place choose to live a healthy lifestyle while continuously working to make positive choices. Youth will have an opportunity to build the skills needed to enhance their quality of life, attain their goals, and become healthy, productive members of the community.

Stewart’s Place is a voluntary mentor home for male youth ages 16-21 in care of the Ministry of Social Services. This program is tailored to assist youth who are choosing a healthy lifestyle to become independent in the next stage of young adulthood. Caseworkers facilitate life skills development, independent living skills, employment supports and post-secondary education preparation. Youth agree to be involved in all programming/daily living associated with the house.

SIL provides youth ages 16-21 with housing and support. Referrals come from (MSS). Youth come to the program with a higher level of commitment to case planning, goal-setting, life skills development and long-term future planning. Youth receive day-to day support from a staff member guiding them in their transition to independence outside of care. This includes: supporting the youth as they navigate the education system, developing employment skills, assistance in securing meaningful employment, evolving their life skills, such as decision-making, budgeting, cooking, relationships and personal development.

The Youth Connect Program is voluntary and provides supports and services to hard to serve youth who are absent from Ministry of Social Services Care and in circumstances that endanger their health, safety and wellbeing. Services include outreach, intensive case planning, weekly circles with identified resources, and pro-social activities and programming. Services focus on connecting with youth to assess their risks and needs, and develop a safety plan that meets their basic needs and provides interim safety. Addressing the root causes of running will be key in determining program success.
